A South Korean remake of Jane the Virgin is coming

Im Soo Hyang and Sung Hoon will play the lead roles on Miss Mom Jane

Ever wondered what will happen if a telenovela becomes a K-drama? You don't have to think about it anymore since the award-winning American comedy-drama tv series that is Venezuelan- based, Jane the Virgin, is having a South Korean remake! 

 

The said show was a fan favorite not just in the United States but also in South Korea, which makes sense why it's going to have a South Korean remake, and it has been in the making since 2019! Miss Mom Jane is the title of the upcoming adaptation, which is based on the American program and will be written and directed by Jung Jung Hwa. Jung's past drama credits include Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, The Wind Blows, and My Absolute Boyfriend.

 

 The Miss Mom Jane K-drama will have 16 episodes and will be  60 minutes long. Jang Ah Mi will assist in creating the screenplay to give the serial program a Korean twist. Im Soo Hyang (My ID is Gangnam Beauty) will star as the lead cast Jane Villanueva, and Sung Hoon (My Secret Romance) will play the biological father of Jane's child, Raphael Solano, in the remake.


Im Soo Hyang and Sung Hoon first starred together in the 2011 drama New Tales of Gisaeng in 2011. They also featured together in the 2016 film Five Enough. This K-drama will be their third time collaborating on a project together.

 

The development began in 2019, and there is currently no set release date other than 2022. It will be shown on Channel A, and there are no plans yet if the K-drama will be  put on streaming services at this time. At the moment, the other casts who will join the lead characters are yet to be confirmed, so it's something fans of the American show and K-drama actors should watch out for!

 

The plot will be Bae Ji Eun ( Im Soo Hyang), an associate drama writer. She follows her grandmother's instructions and maintains virginity until marriage, and she is in a loving relationship with a man who understands her principles. However, she is unexpectedly notified that she is pregnant owing to an honest error at a hospital visit.

 

Sung Hoon has been offered the role of Kim Bok Rae, a plastic surgeon who has a history of having affairs with actresses until he has developed cancer. It sounds dramatic and exciting for a K-drama and we’re all for it, fans who are waiting for the reunion of the lead actors will not be disappointed to see them together for the third time on screen.
