Eva Amurri will join the cast of Fox's midseason drama Monarch, with her mother, Susan Sarandon.

In reality, Amurri will play a younger version of Sarandon's character, country music singer Dottie Cantrell Roman, in her first acting appearance in years. Amurri will have a recurring role in the show, which launches on January 30.

In 2015, Amurri left acting to focus on her lifestyle company, Happily Eva After. Her most recent appearance was in the 2016 film Mothers and Daughters (which also featured Sarandon). NBC's Undateable, Showtime's Californication, and Fox's The Mindy Project are among Amurri's TV credits.

Monarch also stars Trace Adkins, Anna Friel, and Beth Ditto, and tells the story of Dottie (Sarandon) and Albie Roman, a country music dynasty (Adkins). The couple's daughters are played by Friel and Ditto. Even though their brand, which is synonymous with authenticity, is built on a falsehood, the family is devoted to maintaining their position.

Dottie, played by Amurri, is a bright light in each room she enters, yet she is as ambitious as she is skilled.

Monarch was conceived by Melissa London Hilfers and is executive produced by The Jackal Group's showrunner Michael Rauch, Gail Berman, and Hend Baghdady, as well as leading music manager Jason Owen of Sandbox Entertainment.
