Harley Quinn in the future Joker movie is being eyed on

The search for Harley Quinn is on

There's been a story going around the internet this week that Rooney Mara is being considered for the role of Harley Quinn in the Jokerverse, and we're here to tell you it's not true. While it's true that other Batman villains will feature in Joker 2, the actress being considered to play the Clown Prince of Crime's fiancée is actually Rooney's sister, Kate.

According to our sources – the same ones who told us Diana would wear her golden eagle armor in Wonder Woman 1984 and that J.J. Abrams had been offered a Superman and/or Green Lantern film, both of which have since been confirmed – Warner Bros. is considering casting the Fantastic Four star as the aforementioned Quinn in their newly established cinematic universe. Though, based on what we've heard, she isn't the only one on their radar.

Harley is slated to work in Arkham Asylum, treating Arthur Fleck, according to reports (aka the Joker). The deranged criminal will eventually corrupt her head and lead her to fall hopelessly in love with him. Harley will then assist her new boyfriend in escaping, and the two will cause mayhem throughout Gotham City.

If it works out, this would be an unusual screen pairing, especially because Joaquin Phoenix, who plays the Joker, recently got engaged to Rooney Mara. If Warner Bros. chooses Kate to play Harley Quinn, Phoenix will almost probably share many filmed kisses with his soon-to-be sister-in-law, which should make for some intriguing Thanksgiving talk, don't you think?

But, as is generally the case with these things, we're sure Kate isn't the only one on WB's wish list, and we're sure they've got their eyes on a few other intriguing names as well.
