Keira Knightley has been cast by 20th Century Fox in Matt Ruskin's Boston Strangler, a film he will write and direct. Ruskin is best recognized for his work on Crown Heights. Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara of LuckyChap Entertainment will produce alongside Ridley Scott and Kevin Walsh of Scott Free. The film will begin production in Boston in December.
Loretta McLaughlin, the first writer to link the killings and break the Strangler story, is the subject of this true crime thriller based on The Boston Strangler. As one of the city's most well-known reporters in the early 1960s, she and her colleague Jean Cole fought against sexism by reporting on the city's most prominent serial killer. As a result of Loretta's personal sacrifice, the investigation into the Boston Strangler's identity yielded a wealth of new information. Ruskin, a native of Boston, conducted research on McLaughlin and Cole by locating their families and locating their early 1960s studies. The actress Keira Knightley is McLaughlin in the film. 

As if playing actual people wasn't enough of a challenge for Keira Knightley, she'll be appearing in the upcoming thriller Boston Strangler.

At the very least, "Boston Strangler" will be the fourth film based on the horrific killings. On Golden Pond, starring Henry Fonda ("On Golden Pond"), and Cool Hand Luke ("Cool Hand Luke"), Tony Curtis played DeSalvo in 1968.
"Boston Strangler" will likely begin filming during a relatively tranquil moment in the local film business. She'll next be seen in the holiday classic Silent Night, before voicing the film's title character in the animated feature Charlotte. Scott Free's project will be overseen by Sam Roston, and LuckyChap's will be overseen by Bronte Payne. 20th Century Studios' Sarah Shepard is in charge of production.
