New Chucky trailer will give you the creeps

New Chucky trailer debuted at Comic-con

Don Mancini, the creator of the Child's Play franchise, recently told Entertainment Weekly that the new TV series Chucky will be "tonally in sync" with the countless horror films featuring his deadly doll. And the show's trailer, which debuted at Comic-Con's Legacy of Chucky panel on Sunday, appears to suggest that there will be plenty of bloodshed.

After a vintage 'Good Guy' doll comes up at a suburban yard sale in Chucky, a peaceful American community is thrown into pandemonium. Soon, everyone will have to deal with a series of gruesome murders that will reveal the town's profound hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, Chucky's old acquaintances and foes resurface in his life, threatening to reveal the truth about his unusual origins as an apparently regular youngster who became this infamous monster.

"The primary character is a 14-year-old gay boy who is bullied and feels lost after his mother died recently," Mancini explained. "He's a young sculptor who works with doll parts. He buys Chucky from a yard sale, but it turns out he gets a lot more than he bargained for." Zackary Arthur stars in the play, which also features Teo Briones, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Björgvin Arnarson, all of whom are young actors. "I wanted to return [the franchise] back to its Child's Play roots and have the protagonists [be] kids," Mancini explained. "However, since we'd previously dug into having small children in the first two of films, I wanted to do something new, so this time we're focusing on young teenagers."

Lexa Doig, Devon Sawa, Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, Christine Elise, and Brad Dourif, who voices Chucky once again, all star in the show. Chucky will premiere on USA and SYFY on October 12 at 10 p.m.
