You season 3 will thrill you to the bone

Here's what you should know about the new season of You

It's the spooky season, so what can you do to make it even creepier? In two weeks, Season 3 of You will be available on Netflix. On Friday, September 17, Netflix released a trailer for You's third season, and it looks like we're in for the wildest ride yet. Set to a slowed-down remix of Britney Spears' "Baby One More Time" by J2 feat. Blu Holliday, the video begins with Joe (Penn Badgley) and Love (Victoria Pedretti) welcoming their baby boy into the world while attempting to start over in a peaceful neighborhood as new parents. "For you, I'd migrate to some lifeless suburb," Joe says in a voice-over to his newborn son Henry. "For you, I'd marry the monster. "What could go wrong?" says your mother. Two years after the release of the second season, you will return with the third.

In Season 2 of the blockbuster drama, Joe (Penn Badgley) and his homicidal impulses relocated to Los Angeles, where they found solace in the arms of a pastry chef called Love (Victoria Pedretti). However, Joe ultimately realizes that Love is more like him than he thought and will become a father.

Netflix has announced that the series would return in October, with a terrifying teaser narrated by Joe himself. Here's all we know about Joe Goldberg's forthcoming stalker thriller thus far.

In the official teaser for You's third season, Joe and Love adjust to suburban married life and become new parents. However, in the suburbs, the couple looks to be suffocating, and Joe gets captivated (or should we say obsessed?) with a gorgeous blonde in the neighborhood.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Penn Badgley, who portrays lead Joe Goldberg, seemed to let the secret slip, and the renewal announcement came weeks later.

"Dare I say it, but I believe it'll be in the third season..." When asked about Love's character development, Badgley replied. "I genuinely know nothing about the third season," Badgley attempted to backtrack as soon as he realized what he'd said.

"Technically I can't... But, I mean, informally," Badgley replied when asked if further episodes of Gossip Girl will be available on Netflix.

Netflix has confirmed that Badgley (Joe) and Pedretti (Love Quinn) will reprise their roles in Season 3 of the show.

The show's co-creator Greg Berlanti and showrunner Sera Gamble will both return as executive producers.

"He's expecting a baby, and Love has developed from that gorgeous girl he's trying to win to the actual person, who's maybe not exactly what he's imagined... to something much more like a wife," Gamble said of Joe and Love's connection in Season 3 on Us Weekly's Watch With Us podcast.

In October 2020, it was reported that two new characters would join Badgley and Pedretti in the upcoming third season of You. According to one of Netflix's Twitter accounts, "Fresh blood joining You Season 3: Shalita Grant will portray Sherry, a 'Mom-fluencer' who appears down to earth, but is actually a cruel person who simply pretends to allow Love into her social circle."

The forthcoming season will also include Travis VanWinkle, who "will portray the wealthy Cary, who pulls Joe into his inner circle." However, it's uncertain if each new character will make it through the season.

Joe is quickly reverting to his obsessive window-peeking ways — old habits die hard, don't they? — but this time, he has Love on his tail. And she might be even more sinister and twisted than he is.

Things rapidly deteriorate into violence, as Joe is shown in his famous glass cage wrapping up a body. While Love and Joe eventually decide to undergo marital counseling (a therapeutic win! ), the challenging terrain in paradise looks to be too much for them to endure. Are they burying a dead as their child rests in the carrier a few feet away? Yep. This is currently taking place.

"Til death do us part," comes a foreboding voice-over from Love as the screen fades to black. Given that the showrunner, Sera Gamble, has described this season as "f*cking insane," it's safe to conclude that this teaser is merely a foreshadowing of the doom to come.

Netflix will be releasing You's season three on October 15. Prepare to welcome Joe and Love to the neighborhood by watching the trailer below.
