Slovenia Confirms Eurovision 2022 Participation

They have been in the semifinals since 2017.

Slovenia is the latest country to confirm their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2022, which will be held in Italy. Following the internal selection of Ana Sokli, Slovene broadcaster RTVSLO has indicated that EMA will return to choose their entry.

Slovenia will compete in Eurovision 2022, according to a Facebook post by Slovene national broadcaster RTVSLO. The post also mentions that EMA will be their national choice again. Ana Sokli's 2021 entry was going to be chosen during a special episode of the show, however that idea was scrapped.

Dates, format, and submission information will be announced as soon as possible.

Ana Sokli was set to represent Slovenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Voda" after winning EMA 2020. However, because the competition was canceled owing to the COVID-19 pandemic, Ana was chosen from within the Slovenian broadcaster RTV Slovenija to represent the country in 2021.

Initially, it was reported that EMA 2021 would take place, but just as a selection for Ana Sokli's Rotterdam entry. However, because to the current situation of the epidemic, the concert was reduced to a song presentation for her 2021 entry, "Amen." Charlie Mason, who has collaborated with Miley Cyrus and Conchita Wurst, co-wrote the song, which was chosen from a field of 191 tracks.

She finished 13th with 44 points in the semi-final one in Rotterdam, marking Slovenia's first non-qualification since 2017.
