Regé-Jean Page's departure from Bridgerton astounded die-hard fans, but Page is now hinting that he may return in the show's upcoming second season.
According to Deadline, Page spoke to British GQ and teased fans about the Duke of Hastings making a comeback. When asked about a possible cameo, he replied, "I couldn't possibly tell you!" He also added, when pressed for additional details, "Isn't it wonderful to be surprised by something you weren't expecting?"
Netflix has made no comment on Page's possible return for a cameo. However, fans would welcome the return of the Duke of Hastings. Bridgerton became a global phenomenon as a result of the character. Page, on the other hand, chose to leave the series in order to concentrate on his film career. Page's decision came despite the fact that he had been offered a $50,000 per episode pay increase.
Shonda Rhimes, the show's executive producer, was taken aback by Page's popularity, stating that she typically receives a viral reaction from fans after killing off a character.
"I was shocked," she said. "Normally, that happens after I've killed off someone who's been around for a while." "For example, we did not kill him; he is still alive!" she exclaimed. "[Page] is an incredible, powerful actor, which means we did our job—every season, our job is to find the right people and put together this incredible, world-changing romance."
Following Bridgerton, Page landed his first lead studio film role in The Saint reboot. He will also appear in the film adaptation of Dungeons Dragons and Netflix's The Grey Man. Page also topped the list of celebrities fans desired to see portray James Bond.
