Healthy Snacks to Enjoy this Autumn

Let your taste buds make the most of the season.

The crisp air of Autumn is finally here. The autumnal equinox occurred a few weeks ago, signaling the end of summer and the beginning of fall in the Northern Hemisphere. It's harvest time, thus means celebrations, migrations, winter preparations have started in many parts of the world.  Apart from enjoying the fall foliage, people across the North are starting to notice a chill in the evening air, leaves are splattering mountainsides with vibrant color, apples and pumpkins are being harvested, and animals are on the move.

There's something so comforting about the flavor of autumn. Hot and spicy beverages in hand-warming mugs, rich pumpkin pies, and crisp apple streusels all provide a degree of comfort that no other season's cuisine can equal. Here are some of the healthy dishes and snacks that scream "fall".

1. Grilled Apples with Prosciutto and Honey

2. Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

There is no other popular term for pumpkin when people think about fall vegetables. When carving your jack-o-lantern, don't throw away the pumpkin's insides; instead, use the seeds, which are both nutritious and tasty. Roasting pumpkin seeds isn't exactly rocket science, but there are certain tried-and-true methods for ensuring outstanding flavor and texture. The secrets are: Before roasting your pumpkin seeds, dry them and cover them with oil to help them toast evenly and end with a beautiful, crisp, delicious finish.

3. Beef Empanadas with Raisins

A particular favorite since it may be a meal in and of itself. These empanadas are a hit with kids and something adults would enjoy as well. Though some nations do not include raisins in their empanadas, adding raisins to this snack can provide a delicate sweetness. Eating empanadas is like getting a taste of South American tastes in a bite-sized package.

4.  Pumpkin Spice Latte

When Autumn arrives, coffee shops provide this ultimate seasonal treat. People adore them so much that many attempted to make them at home. This recipe is simple, and I'm sure you have most, if not all, of the ingredients you need at home right now. It also takes less than 10 minutes to prepare!

5. Chewy Granola Bars

What could be better for you than a bite-sized Granola bar? These bars are popular among people who are busy at work and cannot have a meal on time, so they come in handy to fulfill that hunger, or for those who are on a diet and yet want complete nutrition in a mouthful.
