Plane Crashes in California Neigborhood, 2 dead

Three homes were damaged and other two completely burned during the incident.

Two people died as a twin-engine Cessna 340 crashed in suburban Southern California, Monday noon. The crashed happened about 20 miles northeast of downtown San Diego, according to Fire Chief John Garlow.

Several homes and vehicles were damaged in the crash site. Among those who were killed was a UPS driver, which was already confirmed by a written statement by the company.

“We are heartbroken by the loss of our employee, and extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends," the statement said. "We also send our condolences for the other individuals who are involved in this incident, and their families and friends."

Deputy Fire Chief Justin Matsushita confirmed that two people were taken to the hospital for burn injuries and describes the crash site as a brutal scene. The authorities have not released the names of those who were killed and injured during the incident.

According to Matsushita, the jet was a private plane travelling from Yuma, Arizona, to Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport in San Diego. It was unclear how many people were on board, but Mastushita said that no one would have survived.

A temporary evacuation area was already set up at a nearby YMCA and further investigations by The Federal Aviation Admiistration and National Transportation Safety Board are ongoing.

On a twitter statement, the San Diego Sheriff Depat]rtment offered their deepest sympathies to those families who lost their loved one in the plane crash.
