A new action movie in Netflix is storming the platform

Take a look at the new action movie that is taking the number one spot in Netflix

Netflix's hot new action movie has managed to take the number one spot on the most-watched list just 24 hours after its premiere, which is surprising news you'd never see coming in a million years. Of course, we're lying, and it's become standard practice for the streaming service's latest splashy offering to draw a large audience on day one; the real question is how long Kate can stay there.

It has all of the ingredients to stay in the Top 10 for a few days, with Mary Elizabeth Winstead's ass-kicking core performance being by far the greatest thing about the Tokyo-set brawler, while Woody Harrelson and Tadanobu Asano add the requisite gravity in their limited supporting roles.

Unfortunately, Kate isn't the sum of its parts, falling into derivative territory far too often when it had the potential to stand out in a crowded subgenre of R-rated action films about a vengeful and highly trained assassin seeking vengeance on the person, people, or organization who betrayed them.

Cedric Nicolas-recent Troyan's film, Huntsman: Winter's War, had a mixed Rotten Tomatoes score of 43 percent at the time of writing. Even if the same production studio was behind all three, audiences might have given it a better rating of 63 percent, but they aren't the figures you'd expect to see from what might have been so much more than a generic Atomic Wick or John Wick clone.
